About Moorend Felts
From her studio with its magnificent views of the Blencathra Fell tops, Linda Chapman of Moorend Felts designs and produces a range of highly original wool and felt items. We first saw these in a Cumbria gallery and were instantly smitten with the attention to detail which goes into each and every piece. We’re delighted Linda joins us here at Acolyte Home & Gifts with her Collection and we`re sure you will be as impressed as we were.
With a Degree in Fine Art, Linda`s fascination with crafting and textiles began in her early years,
I`ve been making since I was a child. My Grandmother was an amazing needlewoman and knitter. She created amazing wall-hangings and I remember her making these stunning pieces. I have been heavily influenced by her use of different stitches.
Linda sources re-cycled woollen jumpers which she felts herself. Where wool is required, she only uses 100% Merino wool which she then machine knits. It`s this use of quality materials which gives her inspiration…
I`ve always loved felt making and working with wool; it`s such a wonderful medium to use. Colour combined with hand - stitching on a jumper which has felted beautifully. It may be something as simple as a nice button which leads me into designing a different colour combination or range.
