About Myapplique
Originally from the Scottish Borders and now living in Shetland, Julia Nairn joins Acolyte Home & Gifts with her beautifully hand appliqued products and we`re delighted to welcome her and her aptly named Myapplique
Julia began to develop her craft by making presents for friends and family. They were so pleased with her individual and unique approach to gifting which in turn encouraged her to think seriously about setting up in business for herself. Myapplique was `born` in 2009 and has gone from strength to strength with Julia`s love of design, choice of materials and colours at the very heart of the process.
A Primary school teacher for 20 years, Julia took the plunge in 2011 and went part-time so that she could devote herself to developing Myapplique and its product ranges. She is also formally studying Art & Design; building on her previously achieved Higher Art qualification.

`Everyday things inspire me – a picture a child has drawn; the colours of the sky. I keep a notebook with me and jot down sketches and ideas as they come. I love sourcing vintage-style patterns, especially retro-tea towels` Julia told us.
`I work from home - I think I may be taking over as that could be the kitchen, living room, spare room – it all depends on the amount of space needed and what I`m currently working on`.
We believe Julia is a true artisan whose products are unique and beautiful.
