Air Art
About Air Art
We first became aware of Fiona Foster `s work some time ago via Facebook where she posted examples of her artwork; work presented in a slightly more unconventional sense as it was adorning motorbikes, crash helmets and cars.
We thought her art was completely amazing but just couldn`t see how it could possibly fit with our offering products to give as gifts and for the home - we toyed with the idea of extending the philosophy to the garage but reluctantly decided that was a step too far.
We continued chatting and recently saw that Fiona had posted pictures of some promotional material she had created for a Bike Show in Cumbria. As soon as we saw those, inspiration struck and consequently we are delighted to say that Fiona has joined us and is now offering her amazing pictures for sale exclusively via `Air Art` on Acolyte.
In addition, Fiona collaborates with Debi Bray - Menezes of York Body Casting who is also with us here on Acolyte Home & Gifts. Between the two of them, Debi and Fiona can provide a bespoke Body Sculpture which can be decorated with either a single motif or fully decorated with artwork of your choice. Visit York Body Casting here on Acolyte Home & Gifts for more detail.

About Fiona:
Based in Brampton, in the beautiful Cumbria countryside, Fiona works with her husband Mark in their Body Shop business where she undertakes commissions on customising vehicles and accessories of all descriptions.
Incredibly, Fiona has had no formal training in developing her artwork. She is completely self-taught and has developed her skill and talent by exploring different mediums such as oils and water colour. Fiona attributes her artistic talent to influences at home from an early age:
`My mother, Rita, always painted large oil paintings of landscapes, when I was a child there were canvasses, paint brushes and linseed oil everywhere; even in the kitchen where she would multi-task by cooking tea and painting a tree or a sky on a canvas`.
Possibly the most unusual aspect about Fiona is that she came by air-brushing almost by chance. Mark, wanting a particular design on a crash helmet, and obviously aware of his wife`s artistic abilities, bought her her first air brush; effectively giving that first all-important commission.
`I was completely useless in the beginning`, Fiona recalls `But I just kept practising and eventually I started to get better`.
Well, nineteen years later and we think you`ll agree with us that she has well and truly mastered the art!
Taking inspiration from the natural world around her, Fiona is fascinated by light and its effect on objects, people and animals. Trying to capture that effect is a challenge and this is where the air brush, coupled with Fiona`s talent, really comes into its own. It allows a depth of texture to be achieved which is quite unusual. Also, Fiona doesn`t paint on canvas. Instead, she uses boards cut and prepared to conventional canvas sizes; preferring these as they accommodate the air brush and paint – allowing the detail and texture to really come through to the observer.

Each painting will come to you carefully protected and well packaged direct from Fiona`s studio. Please allow 7 working days for receipt which will be via First Class Recorded Delivery.
